The Beauty in Every Leaf: Introducing the Leaves Series

Leaves is the first part of my Delicates Series, a collection that celebrates the intricate patterns, textures, and colors found in nature’s simplest forms. Inspired by the beauty within conservatory gardens, and especially the Garfield Park Conservatory, this series focuses on leaves—those often-overlooked yet essential parts of our natural world. Each leaf, with its unique structure and shading, becomes a subject of its own, revealing unexpected details and complexities.

Capturing these images has been a journey in patience and observation. Using both film and digital cameras, I work to photograph leaves in natural light, allowing their veins, curves, and edges to shine with clarity. Developed on both photo paper and metal, these prints bring out the textures and depth in each leaf, creating pieces that feel almost alive.
