Linares Presentation (Collections and Printing)

About Oscar Matos Linares

Oscar grew up in Puerto Rico, an hour’s drive from the El Yunque National Forest Reserve, the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest System, known for rare trees, lush flora and fauna.

While working on his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1987, “my father gave me my first camera to take on my weekend camping trips into the National Forests”. This led him to a formal study of photography, taking classes at the university, then working independently with a professor who had an apprentice approach: “I learned by doing”. After two years of creating 100 images a week, studying the pantheon of photographer’s work, countless hours of time behind the lens, he had developed his “eye”: the world that he sees through the lens, and shares in the photographic form to his audience.

About the collections

When Oscar starts working on a new photo collection is initially inspired by emotions and life events. Each series prompted a reaction to various solutions to those life events. "What inspires me may elicit something special to each one of my collectors". In time, Oscar has learned that my ultimate goal is to create art that relaxes and calms my collectors and in the end, makes them think. This all encompasses something an old friend told Oscar a long time ago, “We buy art to feed our souls”.

My Presentation

At recent art fairs, you may have noticed the featured works by Oscar Matos Linares printed on metal with High Gloss finish. Metal prints offer the modern frameless clean look that today new are inspiring. I still offer traditional prints for those that preferred that style.

Printing Process

Metal Prints

Turn My Vision Into Art with HD ChromaLuxe® Metal Prints

Make a lasting impression like never before with ChromaLuxe high-definition metal prints. With the use of dye sublimation (infusing dyes directly into the metal print) it provides results that are outstandingly clear, vibrant and well preserved for years to come. Printing images directly onto a surface holds a higher risk for unwanted scratching. The dye sublimation process of infusing dyes directly into the coating provides permanent protection for your artwork.

  • All ChromaLuxe aluminium photo panels are coated with a custom formulated multi-layer polymer finish which provides a durable foundation (scratch, fade, fire, and water resistant) for visually stunning images.
  • The overall depth and quality of the images are not only extraordinary to look at, but the light-weight durability of this product also remains unmatched by other competing products.
  • With custom printing options, you can transform your ChromaLuxe metal print into an entirely one of a kind art piece. Custom router cutting and sizing available up to 8 ft. Various shaping options are also available for custom projects.
  • ChromaLuxe metal prints can be cleaned with any all-purpose cleaner and wiped with a cloth. Easy cleaning allows for your museum-quality artwork to retain its shine, hassle-free

The estimated production turnaround time at the lab is 2-3 business days with the addition of 1-3 days for finishing & mounting. Upon completion, the work is shipped directly to you from the lab. The total production time for metal prints could take up to 15 business days before it arrives at your home.

Traditional Black and White Prints

My black white images are print on FineArt Baryta. FineArt Baryta is a paper that sets the benchmark for high color depth, large color gamut and image definition. This paper gives the "wow" factor particularly to black and white prints with an extremely high Dmax and the finest grey tones. Using barium sulfate in the premium inkjet coating ensures the typical gloss that makes this paper a genuine replacement for traditional Baryta papers from analog laboratories.

Traditional Color Prints

All color traditional prints: I use a single white rag mat (archival mats, 100% cotton). Images larger than 20 inches by 30 inches (20X30) are dry-mounted on acid-free archival foam boards and the smaller images are hinged on a mounting board.

Traditional Prints usually ship within three to five business days after the order had been place. The total production time for metal prints could take up to 10 business days before it arrives at your home.
