Challenging Taboos Through Art: The As God Created Us Series
In the realm of photography, certain themes go beyond mere representation; they delve into what it means to be human, raw, and unfiltered. As God Created Us is one such series—a collection of black-and-white semi-nudes that invites viewers to confront, question, and even embrace the taboos often rooted in our upbringing. Each image captures a moment of vulnerability and truth, highlighting the complex relationship many of us have with societal expectations and self-perception.
Working in black and white was an intentional choice. Stripping away color allows the focus to remain on the form, texture, and emotion within each frame. By using both film and digital cameras, I’m able to explore the rawness of this theme in a way that feels timeless, unhindered by trends or distractions. Developed on photo paper and metal, each piece reflects a commitment to both aesthetic beauty and honest storytelling.
This series is about more than nudity; it’s about creating space to reflect on the beliefs we carry, often unconsciously, about body, shame, and acceptance. The goal of As God Created Us is to invite a dialogue with yourself—a moment to reconsider what you see as beautiful, acceptable, or taboo, and to celebrate the freedom that comes with letting go of these limitations.
