Rediscovering Street Photography: The Evolution of the Discovery and Heritage Series

Street photography has always been more than just a genre to me; it’s my way of capturing the spirit of a moment, the fleeting expressions, and the quiet stories that exist within the bustling life of the streets. When I first started, street photography was my default topic, my greatest passion, a way to connect with the world and its people in an honest and unfiltered way. Over time, however, life’s currents and shifts in society pulled me away from this focus. I found myself stepping back, not because the love for street photography had faded, but because the cultural landscape had changed—and I felt the need to explore other visual stories.

Yet, as the years have passed, my desire to reconnect with this subject has quietly resurfaced. This shift began to stir strongly after President Trump's election, an era that in many ways amplified division, reshaping public spaces and the interactions within them. There was a new tension and resilience in the faces I saw, a sense of history being written in real-time. I began to feel that unmistakable urge to return to the streets, to capture this essence, and bring it to life in a new collection.

Thus, Discovery and Heritage was born—a series that explores the changing landscapes of our cities and communities, drawing parallels between past and present. Each image is produced on either film or digital, a blend that allows me to capture both the timeless and the immediate. I choose natural light to preserve authenticity and focus on composition, letting the frame tell the full story, however complex or subtle.

I’ve always believed that street photography is about more than the moment; it’s about capturing the emotions and fragments of society that often go unseen. The images in this series are a testament to that belief, each one a limited edition print, carefully developed on both photo paper and metal to bring out the depth and richness of each captured story. From vibrant city streets to quieter, reflective scenes, this series is an invitation to rediscover the beauty and significance of the everyday.
